Argentine Tango

John Rownan

Visiting Teacher, January - March 2010

John is originally from Dublin but learned to dance tango mainly from extended trips to Buenos Aires, taking classes in all styles of tango with traditional milonguero maestros to Tango Salon proligos to more modern Tango Nuevo. He enjoys blending traditional movements with modern and feels it is important to understand the aspects in each of these to develop your own style that is comfortable, in balance, rythmical and most importantly enjoyable. john_and_cica_milano

John started to teach tango in Dublin in 2006 with Erika Lerma.  In 2009, he moved to Berlin where he offered classes, workshops, and also hosted a small milonga.

John developed his technique and style from blending concepts of numerous teachers with his own ideas.  Some of his preferred teachers who he studied intensively with are: Chicho Frumboli, Sebastian Arce, Mariana Montes, Pablo Inza, Eugenia Parilla, Gaston Torelli, Mariela Sametband, Pablo Villaraza, Dana Frigoli and the list goes on...
