Martin Lorenzo

MartinMartin Lorenzo is a tango dancer and teacher from Argentina.  

His romance with tango started in 1997 at his hometown, Rosario. He was introduced to the concepts of elegance and equilibrium in tango by his first teachers, Beatriz Mendoza and Olando Paiva and Julio Zurita.

He continued his tango education and exchange knowledge with various tango dancers as he travelled and lived in Europe. Upon returning to Argentina, he started to examine the different styles in dance, which include milonguero style and contemporary dance under the guidance of Sebastian Vallina and Moira Castellano.

In 2004, he moved to Burenos Aires and started to dance and teach with Eladia Cordoba. They worked in different milongas and studios, among which the most commonly known are El Beso and La Catedral. In 2007, they were nvited to teach and participate in festivals held in France, Greece, Germany and Lithuania.

Martin's work as a tango choreographer and performer in theatre can be seen in Grupo CETA, last featured in Cambalache in Dec 2007.  He has worked with different directors including Julio Zurita, Moria Castellano and Gonzalo Orihuela.

Martin is now based in Hong Kong and believes it is his mission to promote tango and transfer his knowledge to the people in Hong Kong and the Orient.  His teaching style is to help students to understand tango through images and signals, and to discover the tools to express themselves through the dance and the music. He suggests creativity and that each individual develop their own style.
